Its mild winters and central location are a perfect fit for the year-round activities and events that are uniquely suited to this area.   Clermont was recently named by the International City and County Managers Conference as one of the top 20 cities in America. Clermont offers community festivals, championship golf courses, dozens of annual athletic events, 22 parks, artistic venues, a weekly Farmer’s Market, First Friday Food Truck events and miles of scenic paved bike trails.

In 2000 South Lake Hospital created a new 180 acre health and wellness campus, dedicated to the best in medicine, health and scientific diagnostics. Adjacent to the hospital, The National Training Center houses facilities such as; The Aquatic Center, The National Track and Field Training Center and the Florida Headquarters for The Special Olympics. They offer recreational athletics as well as collegiate Spring Training in Lacrosse, Softball and Soccer. Clermont residents are especially proud as they cheer on their Hometown Heroes at the Olympic Games.   Many Olympic athletes train right here in Clermont, including medal winners, Justin Gatlin, Kellie Wells and Tyson Gay.
